CINEMA NUOVO OLIMPIA

CINEMA NUOVO OLIMPIA

This small Roman cinema is well-hidden in the heart of the city, in the narrow Via in Lucina. The building originally housed a music-hall and Teatro Olympia, a theatre that advertised itself as showing 'Reale Cinematografo Lumiere' as long ago as in 1898, thus establishing itself as the first film-watching venue in the Eternal City. Renovated in 1997, the movie theatre now runs a programme of art house films, consistently demonstrated in the original language. Cinema Nuovo Olimpia is also home to the independent Rome International Film Festival.
