Located not far from the Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto)... no, please don't frown: although you will indeed have to make your way through the throngs of tourists, this isn't one of those places you could just stumble on by accident. The only thing that points to its location in a somewhat dark and dreary-looking little alley is a smallish and undistinguished-looking sign: and yet, what a clientele! Ladies with pearls (concierges at luxury hotels tend to recommend this place as "authentic Venice") and gondoliers. It's a Fellini! The place is always buzzing and always jam-packed. The fish and all sorts of sea food are as fresh as they come. Everything is very simple and understated. Great prices, not easy to find in Venice. You can't book a table but you will always find one around 7-9 pm - at least if you don't mind waiting a bit. Lightning-speed service (that's a rarity in Venice), and each of the waiters is an impressive personality in his own right. Gastronomic pleasure and unforgettable little scenes are guaranteed.
Closed on Wednesdays.
