The architectural marvel - Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, designed by Frank O. Gehry, is a classical sample of architectural tourism. It is also a sample of an almost a revolution, brought forward by a single building, in a previously smalltime region of Spain. Keeping up with it, is also its restaurant - with light wooden chairs, somewhat resembling pictures from books about dwarfs. A gastronomic offer of its chef - Basque culinary star - consists of two parts - sea food and a traditional menu. Depending on ones mood - it is worth trying the both. A quite small but a pretty charming bookstore is located just a few steps from the restaurant's entrance - and it's almost impossible to pass it by.
It was a harrowing experience. It was the most overpriced snobbish experience we ever had in 25 years of dining in fine European restaurants. The service was not par to the prices or the setting. this was in the "gastronomic" section eating "a la carte".
