A widely known location, swarming with visitors. Yet it does not take away anything of Tarifa's matchless atmosphere - it is a true Mecca for windsurfers and nothing can change it. Tarifa is much favored among surfers and kiters, however, in summer kiting is not allowed for safety reasons. Two prevailing winds, blowing alternately, is south easterly - known as levante and westerly - known as poniente . Being in Tarifa with my friends from Lithuania, I slept in a van in a campsite. And, who knows, maybe it's the best way, in fact? We are all equal on the water, yet a choice of lodging - be it a campsite, a hotel or a van - is a matter of individual preference. Decision that comes on the spur of the moment might be the best one. You can be spontaneous and decide to leave a hotel and camp out with a bunch of terrific people you have just met on the beach.
