Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern

Founded by King Gustav III, the Swedish Royal Dramatic Theatre is often colloquially referred to simply as 'Dramaten'. The white dolomite marble Art Nouveau building with its gold-adorned façade, the current home of Dramaten, was built in the early 1900s (1901-1908), designed by the architect Fredrik Lilljekvist. The renowned Swedish artists Carl Milles and Carl Larsson assisted in creating the sophisticated interior. During the second half of the 20th century, the theatre was internationally known as the theatre of the Swedish stage and film director Ingmar Bergman.
The Royal Dramatic Theatre currently houses eight different stages.
