1 OAK club in Manhattan is an establishment clearly aiming to draw the spotlights as the most exclusive venue of New York's nightlife. And it's not going to give up its positions, regardless of media efforts to undermine its status or any bureaucratic problems. The club's exclusivity is largely secured by a severe face control and a strictly observed door policy. Its bouncers are unbending, and more than once it's been observed that no bucks would buy you pass into the New York's most prestigious nightclub, unless the doorman decides otherwise. The epithet "tough door" is pretty apt in a direct sense as well, referring to its impressive, solid wood entrance. Yet, if you manage to make it past the heavy door, it's your time to melt into its chic, expensive and sensual atmosphere.
Perhaps it doesn't matter how much you can spend, but it does matter who you are. That place is literally saturated with celebrities - models, musicians and millionaires. If they decide to go clubbing - 1 OAK will be their choice. And the duo of co-owners, Scott Sartiano and Richie Akiva, are famous not only for their business but their star-studded relationship affairs as well.
1 OAK is always jam-packed, and, due to dim lighting, its lavish décor might be left unnoticed. Yet it's certainly worth paying attention! It features Louis XIV style sofas, a fireplace, an ostrich feather wall finish, and a pitch-black bar counter, shaped like a long table with curved legs and woodcarvings, oozing an ambiance of the 17th-century French castle.
Despite its status, 1 OAK doesn't get carried away with famous DJ's line up, focusing mostly on hip hop, house and oldies, played through a world-class sound system.
The bar offers a bottle service.
